PAINTING OF A SEA SERPENT
I do one to three of these a year.
I keep returning to the serpent, an avatar I know well.
Whenever I'm testing out a new style or material,
I always do one serpent first, to feel it out,
to observe the new creature in it's natural habitat.
This one is painted on a piece of glass.
Gold foil was added to the reverse side of the glass after a thorough cleaning.
Layers of gold and copper liquid paint were applied
Once I was satisfied with the paint,
I scratched out the shadows and low-lights with sandpaper.
A final coat of black paint sealed the critter into the the glass.
Three dimensional, backwards art.
(Roughly 3 feet by two. Framed.)
